IP profile for your line is - 1250 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 761 kbps
I was having problems with slow speed.
BT have done something but im not sure if it's as fast as it should be for 8mb.|||Ok. ISPs use a marketing trick when they say "8MB broadband". What they are actually saying is "UP TO 8MB Broadband", meaning you aren't necessarily going to get 8mb. I have 8mb broadband, and i think the fastest i've seen it go is about 5MB. It all depends on the load on your internet providers servers. Another factor that determines your speed is the amount you download. If you use P2P and BitTorrent, which use large amounts on bandwidth, your ISP will slow down (called throttling) your internet connection, to be fair on their other customers. Also, the coverage is a factor. If you live in a rural area, your ISP may only have a small station to serve broadband to that area, meaning a slow internet connection. Basically, dont expect 8MB all the time.|||Yes this is good only. You can check the internet speed test from http://www.ip-details.com/inte鈥?/a>

|||Hi Sara J
Doesn't sound good unfortunately
Every ADSL company can't guarantee you'll have 8MB.It depends how far you are away from your local exchange.According to your results your surfing at 1.5MB.Which means you could be quite far away from your exchange.
http://www.top10-broadband.co.uk/
Go to that website enter your postcode, when the page loads at the top it will say where your local exchange is and what your speed line supports ,that's the max you can get for an adsl connection
If its 1.5MB im afraid that's the best you can get then.The only way on increasing your speed is if you move house,changing providers or changing your wire(type of copper can depend)
What might help is updating your router.I recommend a BT Hub

What Can slow your connection down ;
1)[WIRELESS]It depends how far you are away from the router-some routers have a maximum distance(well all do actually)
if you go out of that distance it has no choice apart from disconnecting you
2)If the computer connected to the router with wires is on and is running alot of programmes(using most of the routers power)it will disconnect thats the same if you are running alot!
3)Also depends on how many electrical based things are connected to the router if you have over 3 you are very likely to disconnect or have poor poor speed's
If you are still experiencing problems give BT a call and ask them whats up they could be upgrading your service.
In that case have a rest lol
BT will tell you whats happening all i know are they are upgrading alot of their exchanges in the UK.Which could mean you could be having some technical difficulties.
Hope my information has helped
Best of luck
YPG|||8Mb should be max of 8000kbps
More likely you would get 5500kbps or maybe 6500kbps.
But 1536kbps on an 8Mb connection sucks.
That is equivalent to 1.5Mb - not 8Mb!
The "up-stream" speed is reasonable tho..
Have you tried www.speedtest.net
That gives accurate results.|||I can help you with this. There are several ways to resolve this. Apart from changing your provider.
1. Remove you bell wire from your BT main socket (connection pin 3).
2. Run TCPoptimiser a free sofware that works well.
If you want more let me know. The best one is it the bell wire removal or filtering.
