Hi speed 7mbps internet dsl is so slow?

i have got qwest internet 7 mbps and it so slow i have to wait for a 15 second youtube video to buffer.

my modem is a actiontec gt701 . i dont think i have any filters on my phone lines. ive done speakeasy internet speed test and it said i have .25 mbps download and like .21 mbps upload speed. im pretty sure it supposed to be faster... at this point ill pretty much try anything.|||Statement: hi speed 7mbps internet dsl is so slow

Yes, 7mbps internet is slow (Cable or DSL) when you normally have or pay for faster service, but maybe the video you are downloading to watch is popular and they can only serve that speed in your area... Remember there are customers still paying AOL $25 a month for 33bps dial-up service!

In the US we have slow speeds nation wide and the highest speeds are far above the prices charged in Europe, and Asia for faster speeds.

Quote: "City Telecom made waves a few months ago with its US$13, symmetric 100Mbps connections. Today, the company slashed prices on its much faster 1Gbps fiber-to-the-home offering; a fully symmetric, 1Gbps connection costs HK$199... or US$26 a month."

I have a friend in Japan that has 1Gbps speeds and he is still impressed after several months, He now hates coming to the states and being forced to use America's slow internet speeds...

One day we will have reasonable priced high speed connections, but the greed in the ISP/entertainment sector has not been front page news, so we are not angry and our government has not forced the ISP to stop bundling. When the contracts for Internet service/TV for exclusivity with states, county and city governments are broken allowing competition, our internet costs will come down rapidly and the speeds will escalate over night.

JR|||This is very likely a problem Qwest should deal with. It's their responsibility to ensure their customers are receiving the service they are supposed to get!

Filters might be the issue, yeah, but this seems more serious than that. Filters would likely be an issue if you're having internet problems when people pick up and talk on your phone.

.25mbps is SERIOUSLY low, and you should be complaining pretty damn hard to them, although be kind, as I'm sure they can fix your problem.|||with .25mb your not getting what you paid for. YOU DO NEED THE FILTERS ON, add the filters to all your phones that's why they ship them with the package cause you need them, if that doesn't improve your speed, then just call qwest it sounds like it would be a issue on there side it will not cost you anything for them to come out to your house to look from there side of the wires :-)|||With DSL you will need to have a DSL line filter coming off the wall jack for each phone connected in your house. The only phone that doesn't get a filter is the one connected at your computer or modem.

Call Qwest and have them test your connection. It's free.|||Yeah your ISP is messed up, you need to get in touch with them. At best you can try unplugging your modem/router and plugging it back in. See if that helps but it probably won't.|||This is common problem everywhere in the world especially in developing countries and areas which are very populous. It is because of too many people surfing in a wide-area range.|||i don't know. it's the best ans
