How come the internet status' speed is different from the speed tests?

When using DSL, it's 100 Mbps; wifi - 54Mbps

several speed tests show the download speed to be about 550 kbps only|||the speed listed is the standard that the wire uses. The 54 is the speed of a wireless G network. The speed test does not measure that. It measures the actual throughput of the data. The DSL does not run 100 megabits. The 550 is either kilobits per second as you listed or 550 kilobytes per second (KBps). If the latter, that comes to 4.4 Mbps or about what you'd expect if you were paying for 5 Megabit service.|||internet speed varies and it depends in whole array of factors which influence the Speed at different points of time
