Why is my dsl internet from verizon only giving me 300 KB/s when I ordered 3 MB/s? I have only one device hooked up and I'm not doing anything else when i run the speed test. The highest I have ever gotten is 350 Kb/s.|||First thing I would do is cycle power on the Verizon DSL modem and router if you're using one.
Unplug power cables on the router and modem.
First plug in the modem and wait a minute or two to establish a Internet connection.
Now plug in the router.
Reboot your PC and go to http://speedtest.net to test your speed.
Internet speeds are measured in Mbps, which is millions of (bits) per second, not to be confused with MB/s which is millions of (bytes) per second.
If your speed is not what you are paying for, then call Verizon and complain.
Good Luck...|||Your internet service is sold to you in Bits. You purchased a 3 MegaBit speed package from your ISP. Downloads are calculated in Bytes though. There are 8 Bits in 1 Byte. 3 (your internet speed) divided by 8 (the number of bits in a byte) equals 0.25. 250 KilaBytes is your maximum download speed. So you're actually getting more than what you're paying for. If you want to go faster, purchase more speed from your ISP.|||B = Bytes, b = bits. DSL is sold in bits. You have 3 million bits per second. Many speed meters measure it in Bytes per second. Your theoretical download speed is 375 kB/s or 375 KiloBytes per second. In short, when you include overhead for IP, your 350 is very good and about as high as it is capable of doing.|||Call them right now to tell them your problem if they said that you may have problem in your cable, router....etc trust them. However that always happens if there is problems in the router :-) Good Luck!
