Internet speed test question for computer techs.?

I have a 1 mb DSL with the phone company. When I check my internet speed I get: Download 1.1 mbps. Upload 127 kbps. Is this normal or is my upload speed lame? Typically what should my upload speed be? If my upload speed is crippled, where might I look for the problem?

Thanks.|||An upload speed of 128 is typical for DSL. If you had cable, then there would be a problem. DSL is made that way, because its not as fast as cable, so they allocate more speed to downloads so it is faster for most browsing.|||It's normal for companies to offer less speed than actually advertised. Your isp could be hurting your upload speed. http://broadband.mpi-sws.org/transparenc鈥?/a> offers an answer.|||Yes, your upload speed is a bit lame.

Should be 200 - 250 kbps.

It is unlikely to be your PC but it could be some setting in your router or modem.

Otherwise, some ISPs limit the upload speed. You need to ask them or maybe it is in their Terms and Conditions which you will find on their website.
