I have recently got Dsl connection..but i am getting half the speed of 1 mbps?

But many people i know are getting almost the whole speed, now there is nothing wrong with the phone which is brand new and connection with fiber optics plus the modem is new and has been checked by the ISP but i doubt there honesty and i am having the feeling that they have done some adjustments with the modem so its not giving me the whole speed besides not more then 50% of the package i have done everything from settings speed tests, ping tests given me A grade result (perfect) now what might be wrong .....?

pleasue guide me a solution because company is f@cking ignorant about costumer service.well the modem is ZXDSL 831 thanks|||Check with your ISP to make sure your connection speed is supposed to be 1 mb/s. There are several different flavors of DSL with different connection speeds. If you're fully sure you're paying for a 1 mb/s connection and you're getting substandard speed, keep in mind that your neighborhood will share a portion of network bandwidth and how heavily they use the internet might affect you. If everything is testing to 1 mb/s but one or two programs don't work correctly (like LimeWire or another file sharing client) your ISP may be throttling back certain network protocols these programs use. The only real way to ensure a full 1 mb/s connection is to work with your ISP, so try to be diplomatic and understanding as possible with these people as it is hard to troubleshoot a network problem over the phone.
