I never get anywhere the internet speed I have. Please help!?

I have DSL with a speed of 1.5 mbps My internet speed on a speed test is 1792kbps for download speed. How come I always download things at about an average of 100 kb/s? If I have 1792 kbps shouldn't it be at least around that much? Thanks|||No my friend, your download speed is not only determined by your internet speed. It is also determined by the speed of the connection the server you are downloading from has and it is also determined on the speed set by the owner of the server that each connection to its server can gave.

in other words the owners of the server you are downloading a file from can set the amount of bandwidth any single user can use so it wont be unfair to other users who want to download fast also.|||In theory, yes. In real life, no. Your connection speed in dependent on the number of other pc's sharing your pipe, and the type of DSL connection you have.|||internet speed and download speed are two different things...

although the faster your internet speed is will speed up your download speed|||It is not your internet connections fault actually. The sources that you download from impose a limit on the speed of your download so that one person cannot use up all of THIER bandwidth.

Case in point,

I work at an IT firm and we have a 36Mbps connection. When I download things it is normally throttled at 100k to 150k.
