What's normal DSL speed for the price?

I checked at ATT speed test of my DSL-cause it seemed slow. I got .65 Mbps download %26amp;.30 Mbps upload for $19.99/mo. What is normal DSL speed?|||There is no normal speed. At that price you most likely have At%26amp;t DSL Lite (download speed up to 768 Kbps/upload up to 384 Kbps).

.65 Mbps is 666 Kbps and .30 Mbps is 307 Kbps so you are right in the ballpark of the advertised speed.

DSL is limited by the distance from the CO or telephone companies central office. The copper limits are around 15,000 feet. and this would be the actual length of the cable not the point to point distance. If your neighborhood has fiber optic this distance can be extended,

For higher DSL speeds these distances get shorter, the faster the speed the shorter the distance. A 3 Mbps DSL connection would be about a maximum of 6000 feet from the CO. If you exceed these limits quality and speed will suffer.

The performance and reliability of the DSL connection is also affected by the quality of the line and weather conditions.

All that being said a 768 Kbps DSL connection is slow. It is not even considered broadband. Currently the FCC defines Broadband as a 4 Mbps or faster Internet connection.

You can look into faster cable or DSL Internet services, however none are that inexpensive. Most are in the $30 to $70 per month range.

Good Luck...
