Every time I test my (Bellsouth DSL) download speed on a site like speedtest.net, it will tell me I run ".5 Mb/s", but when I try to actually download a file, I download it at roughly "56 kB/s"
Can anyone explain why this is?|||Your path from Bellsouth to the server you're downloading from is slower than your path TO Bellsouth (which is pretty much what speedtest.net tests). You can only buy speed between you and your provider - what you get to the rest of the internet is what you get. There's nothing anyone can do about it. (That's why some download sites have mirrors all over the world. You use the site closest to you to get the best speed.)|||there are a few possibilties:
1. u might be using internet for other..
2. ur comp might be downloading something
3. the file u r trying to download may not have.. good speed.. for download
4.there might be some spyware on ur comp.. preventing to speed up ur comp
