I have Dsl Speed Problems?

HI i have at%26amp;t 1.5mb dsl service i know you will never get the 1.5 but ive been getting anywere from 100kbs to 800kbs i want 1.3 i dont know what to do my laptop gets 1.3 and when i test my speed nothing but my computer is on my network so whats wrong if you need more detail let me know|||One, directly connect to your modem

two, use the AT%26amp;T speed test site, they will not accept anything else

three, use speedtest.com it is cooler and has better info/graphics

four, unplugg your modem and power down your computer for 5 minutes before firing up and testing

five, Telephone cable has to be less than 10 ft long- No crap it has to be!

80 percent is the threshold that you have to fall under to get attention

Caution- Lots of people report poor speeds because when downloading their porn the download clock has really slow readings. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR CONNECTION- it is the server you are getting it from and every other perv in the free world too!

Best of Luck

SCI, AAS Computer Networking|||First clearing cache and cookies sometimes will increase your speed. This eliminates caching to the hard disk.

Second possible problem is an improperly installed or missing DSL filter(s). This eliminates a noisy connection, with resulting data crashes.

Third if there is a third party router in the system remove it, connecting directly to the modem, and test your speed. You will have to unbridge the modem to do this. If you contact AT%26amp;T they will ask you to do this first before they will even talk to you. This will eleminate possible configuration problem with the router

Use only the cables that came with the modem or gateway to connect it to your telephone connection. A telephone cable that is too long can cause data collisions.

AT%26amp;T will only accept speed test done using their test you should be able to get this test through the link below.

Below is a link that shows how to use the "Self Suppot Tool" which may identify your problem.

If these checks do not incease your speed, then you need to contact AT%26amp;T technical service, they will be happy to test your connection.

AT%26amp;T may possibly make changes to your connection to improve your speed, or adjust your billing.

Lots of luck.|||Internet service degrades the further you are from the exchange. There's nothing you can really do, you're too far from your ISP, or your phoneline is a bad quality.|||Try using the tools at a site like speedguide.
