Im a DSL subscriber Php 1,299 bundle with Landline and unlimited Internet connection of 512 kbps.
But according to the pldt dsl speed test, The result is only 389 kbps. i want to know if this is normal? or my dsl speed is too slow for what im paying for?
if this is very slow for my dsl speed, i will complain it to the PLDT.
that is why im asking first to you guy's. i know that you know better in regarding to internet speed.
secondly is according to my wife the pldt technician told her that if we want to test my internet speed just go to speedtest.net and click singapore as my server test. i wonder why do i need to test in speedtest.net rather to their pldt speed test? please help me so i can complain this to them.
Thank you.
Chris Labez|||You won't get the exact 512kbps speed. Network traffic etc. affect your broadband speed. What matters is the commited information rate. This guarantees the minimum speed you can still expect to enjoy during peak traffic.
Suggesting to go to speedtest.net at least gives you an impartial third-party tester. That way, at least you know PLDT is not fooling you with the bandwidth speed.|||Really want to test it. Learn the /ping command.

You can use a ping test to troubleshoot connectivity problems with your home network. Ping tests are also commonly used to measure the delay ("lag") with online gaming services or other Internet servers.
Microsoft Windows contains a built-in ping utility for running ping tests. Alternative utilities are also freely available as Web downloads. To execute a ping test, you simply identify the Web site or other remote server / computer by its name or IP address. The result of a ping test includes confirmation that connection was successful, along with a series of numbers that represent the communication delay in milliseconds (ms).
The results of a ping test vary depending on the quality of the Internet / network connection. A good broadband Internet connection (wired or wireless) typically results in ping test latency of less than 100 ms, often less than 30 ms. A satellite Internet connection normally suffers from latency above 500 ms.

The ISP may provide 512 kbps, but one AV auto update running may eat up or use 98 of that, one instance of Windows Update may use another 50 of that.
Those numbers are just out of my head, no real data or fact on them, is just common sense.|||You have slow internet because many DSL subscriber uses DSL. It is because they can use internet and telephone at the same time.
